I was born in Newark on March 1941 at
St. Michael's Hospital on High Street. We lived in the West Ward
on Fairmount Avenue and then on 12th St and 16th Avenue. My father
went on the fire department in May of 1942 and was assigned to Truck
Co. 9 which was on Avon Avenue, later transferring to Engine Co.
6 on Springfield Avenue and Hunterdon St. I went to grammar school
at St. Ann's Catholic School on 7th St and 16th Avenue from 1947
to 1955. I attended high school at St. James, down neck, from 1955
to 1959.
