I lived on North 9th street between 6th
and Park Ave. Grew up in the neighborhood in the 50's and 60's.
Between Gimmal's apartment building and the first house on the
block by 6th avenue an alley wrapped around the entire building
with an entrance on 9th street and an exit on 6th avenue.
Pigtail Alley pales in comparison to the magnitude of this alley.
There was even a 10 car garage midway thru this alley.
One fond memory has an elderly women throwing a tub of hot water
on me and my friends because we were always making to much noise
under her apartment window.
Back in those days the area by the garage was big enough to play
stick ball and break some garage windows (by accident of course).
