I remember going to Newark with my mother
and grandmother to shop and have lunch at one of the department
stores. We had to all get dressed up for the occasion.
My brother and I were very young when we went with my mother to
see Roy Rogers, I think at Bamberger's, probably in the late 1940's.
The line moved very slowly, and it seemed we were there all day.
Finally, we got to shake Roy's hand. Wow! It was worth it as he
was our hero. I wonder if any one else remembers going to this event.
What year did Roy Rogers come to Newark? What department store brought
Roy Rogers to Newark? Were Dale Evans and Trigger with Roy? I think
they were, but Roy was the "star" in our minds.
