Aulisi's Restaurant Clifton Ave.

by Michael Jannicelli

There was an Anna Falca Roma who mentioned the Aulise's Restaurant on Clifton Ave in Newark. These are my relatives!!! My Aunt was Lucia Maria Jannicelli, her husband was James Aulise.

I have heard people mention the restaurant many times and heard the food was always good, great place to go to. The Janicelli's and Aulise's grew up in Newark, come from Italy "Saint' Andrea di Conza" Avellino/Campania reg. A great area of Newark, the beautifully St Lucy's Church, Sacred Heart Cathedral.

My family grew up on Clifton Avenue, "Vitiello's" also Newark Street "Torre's" and Garside Street". Vitiello's" big families. Every time I go back to Newark I always visit the old neighborhood, Bloomfield Ave., the village, ting a lings lemon ice!!! Anyone out there from the area?

Don't live in the area anymore. But get back any chance I can get. I miss the hot dog trucks ( just thinking about makes me drool! sauerkraut, mustard, hot onions. The best. Believe it or not, I really miss White Castles (they call them sliders in he mid west).

I really miss the Bakeries back in Newark. Colandra"s has the best bread! The Belleville Silver Lake section, North Newark Forest Hill section. I have some of the best memories of my life.

Growing up on Franklin Street and Franklin Avenue was great!!!
