3. According to information
received September 2003 from a former Orphanage resident, in 1963, the Orphanage
was converted into a non-sectarian school for emotionally disturbed children
and its name changed to The Children's Institute.
At the same time, the facility moved from its 141 Lincoln Avenue address to 337 South Harrison Street in East Orange. The facility has continually expanded over the years and has since changed its address three times to accommodate its growing enrollment. Since August 1999, it has been located at One Sunset Avenue in Verona,
where 160 children with autism and emotional and learning disabilities,
ranging in age from 3 to 21, are enrolled.
