2. The 1947 Dinner-Dance
entertainer, Red Buttons (born Aaron Chwatt in the Lower East Side of New
York City), would go on to become one of the all-time 'greats' of film and
comedy. His appearance in Sayonara in 1957 won him an Academy Award as Best
Supporting Actor. Later, his TV Red Buttons Show won the Academy of Radio
Television Arts and Science Award (the Emmy precursor) for Best Comedian.
Buttons, who turned 83 on February 5, 2002, is still performing. His career
as an entertainer spans seven decades.
