date of Ernie Pyle's death, has been officially designated as National Columnists
Day, in honor of Pyle
The National Society of Newspaper Columnists pushed for this official day to remind fellow journalists of what comprises the best attributes of an American columnist, to remember him, and to write about him each year as the anniversary of his death comes around.
