Not far from where the Elvings actors exited the stage door on Charlton Street, Dore Schary, the famed playwright, movie producer, and head of MGM's Hollywood studios for eight years was born as Isadore Schary on August 31, 1905. He produced or supervised over 250 films, eight of which won Academy awards or nominations. He died July 7, 1980.

Among the Yiddish actors who performed on the Elvings stage was Polish-born Muni Weisenfreund. He later went on to a spectacular Hollywood film career as Paul Muni, where he won virtually every award for acting excellence. Muni's two most notable film performances were the Academy-Award winning "Life of Louis Pasteur" and the Film Critics Award-winning "The Life of Emile Zola."
