3. The Sunday Call also had numerous not-so-distinguished writers, including myself. For a period of time in 1940, I wrote a weekly column for the sports section of the Sunday Call titled "Swimming Notes."

(In pre-World War II years, some writers identified with the Star-Ledger as I was, also took on side jobs that included writing assignments for other newspapers, or doing publicity for news sources. I wrote for the Sunday Call, the Newark News, the Moreau suburban newspaper group, and I also did publicity for the U.S. 1 Highway Council, Inc., and for two Newark sports clubs).
