|1. The first Sunday
edition of the Newark News in 1946 easily made the transition from the previous
week's Sunday Call because it picked up most of the Sunday Call features
and many of its key staff members.
Edward F Bataille, editor of the Sunday Call became a member of the editorial staff of the Newark News. Many Call editors and writers went over to the News including Josephine Lawrence, Edward Sothern Hipp, John E. Beer, long-time Call sports editor Gus Falzer, and Antoinette Gentile, the Call's society editor. Harry Dorer, the Call's chief photographer, took up similar duties at the News.
