1. The Veterans Administration Building at Washington Park was built in 1920 by the Globe Insurance Company as its headquarters. The building replaced two mansions that previously were located there. The building was designed by Frank Goodwillie, and is an example of the Second Renaissance Revival style. The Veterans Administration Building is much in character in materials, workmanship, and basic style with similar institutional structures on Washington Park, such as the Newark Public Library and the Newark Museum.

The building is a landmark with the James Street commons Historic District.
