A published list of the earliest radio stations in the United States licensed between October 20, 1921 and March 18, 1922 includes KDKA Pittsburgh as No. 1, WJZ (now WABC New York 770) as No. 2, WOR 710 (now in New York) as No. 49, WEVD 1050 New York as No. 89. The number 69 is omitted from the list, but WHBI in Newark, with a start-up date of March 11, 1922, would have earned that position.
